Partial victory for late pension seekers

The days when employers can force workers to retire at the age of 65 appear numbered, even though the High Court on Friday rejected a challenge to the default retirement age.

Mr Justice Blake said the default age did not breach European discrimination rules, but made clear he might have ruled differently if the government had not recently brought forward to next year a review of existing legislation, originally promised for 2011.
