UK on ‘glide path’ out of Iraq

Gordon Brown on Monday announced plans to halve Britain’s troop presence in Iraq by next April, placing UK armed forces on what a senior government official called a “progressive glide path” out of the country.

The prime minister told parliament the troop reduction would take place in several steps as British forces gradually limited their role to training Iraqi forces.
