BAE Systems has bought out the 45 per cent share of partner VT Group in a joint venture naval ship building business in a deal that will see VT receive nearly £300m in cash.

The long-expected deal to conclude the future of BVT Surface Fleet, which builds surface warships for the Royal Navy, completes VT’s exit from the shipbuilding business, on which the group was founded, to focus on support services.
