The future ownership of Liverpool Football Club has again been thrown into doubt amid reports that Middle Eastern investor Prince Faisal bin Fahad bin Abdullah Al Saud is interested in acquiring a stake of up to 50 cent.

The speculation follows reports of a deal struck between his F6 sports investment vehicle and George Gillett, who along with Tom Hicks bought the club for £219m in a 50-50 deal two years ago.
