Japan’s Mizuho books fourth straight loss

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) reported a return to profit in the first quarter, as Japan’s largest bank rounded off a stronger earnings season for the country’s financial sector.

The bank made a net profit of Y75.9bn ($792m) as low interest rates around the world boosted net interest income and the stockmarket recovery turned investment losses into profits.
