Fury at Madoff over claim he acted alone

To the last, Bernard Madoff maintained his position that he acted alone in carrying out a decades-long “Ponzi” scheme that he said “deeply hurt many, many people”.

Mr Madoff, who said the fraud started in the early 1990s, admitted that he never invested clients’ funds in securities but instead deposited them in a Chase Manhattan bank account. JPMorgan Chase declined to comment.
