Two days before taking charge of Emap Communications, its new owners at Apax and Guardian Media Group announced on Monday that David Gilbertson will be the company’s chief executive.

Mr Gilbertson, 50, has been poached from business-to-business rivals Informa in a move that confirmed the hold-up of plans to merge Emap’s assets with the existing Incisive business owned by Apax.
