Hollywood's blockbuster budgets leave the chests bare

With Superman soaring across the silver screen and the Pirates of the Caribbean again sailing through the cinemas, Hollywood is enjoying a box office revival after last year's decline. But rather than celebrate, many executives are on edge.

The nervous mood is owing to the fact that the film industry is downsizing. Warner Brothers began the trend last year when it laid off 400 workers. Since then, Paramount and MGM have followed suit. Disney could be next.
