Exxon reports largest profit in US history

The world’s two largest publicly-quoted energy companies reported record annual profits on Thursday thanks to the high price of oil, though their oil and gas production performances were strikingly different.

ExxonMobil, the world’s biggest company by market value, said its production rose by 4 per cent in 2006.
