Disclosure rules test businesses’ judgment

Moneysupermarket.com, the price comparison site, had to move fast in July when it realised it would be hit badly by the closure of the Barclays bank consumer finance arm that was its biggest and most lucrative source of business.

The website says it issued a stock market warning about the problem – sending its shares tumbling by almost a third – less than five hours after Barclays made its own announcement to investors.
