Remploy to unveil factory plans

Plans for the future of scores of factories that employ thousands of disabled workers will be announced today by Remploy, a state-funded company that provides work for the disabled.

Remploy previously announced plans to close or merge 43 of its plants as part of efforts to place more workers in mainstream employment. Unions had threatened to ballot workers for a strike if widespread closures went ahead.
