Clinton makes comeback in New Hampshire

New Hampshire voters defied expectations and handed Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican John McCain upset victories in the primary elections on Tuesday night, setting the stage for bruising battles for the nominations of the two major parties.

Mr McCain’s critical endorsement with a first-place finish over his chief rival, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, capped a stunning comeback for the 71-year-old Vietnam war hero, whose campaign had appeared on the brink of collapse just six months ago.
