US chief exits race for Tesco job

Tim Mason, the chief executive of Tesco’s US operation, has ruled himself out of the race to succeed Sir Terry Leahy as chief executive.

It ends years of speculation that the retailer’s second-in-command would step up to the top job when Sir Terry retires.
