Lord Turner’s remarks that bankers may perhaps have been engaged in “socially useless” economic activity have clearly stung some in the City. Even now there are angst-ridden conversations in banks and hedge funds as finance professionals fret over whether they are sufficiently socially useful.
This is where a little known but Jersey-based service comes in. The Bankers Offshore Social Hotline (Bosh) – the confidential helpline for finance professionals concerned that they are not fulfilling a valuable social role in their work. It is staffed by experienced “wellness” professionals with a banking background and offers help to unhappy bankers at £2.60 a minute.
