Healthcare spend bolsters Croda

Croda, the cosmetic ingredients maker, bucked the gloom in the chemicals sector, announcing a sharp rise in profits on the back of higher glycerine prices and cost savings from its acquisition of Uniqema.

Strong growth in its consumer health markets is being driven by an ageing population striving to look younger, more healthcare spending and a sharp rise in demand for environmentally friendly healthcare products.
