Lufthansa improves offer for Austrian

Lufthansa, the German airline, late on Thursday offered new concessions to the European Commission in the hope of finally winning approval from the Brussels competition watchdog for its takeover of Austrian Airlines.

A spokesman for Lufthansa said the Frankfurt-based carrier had submitted “an improved offer in the realm of what is just about do-able” in the hope of getting a green light for the deal before the end of July.
