Companies proposing to restructure their business or that are involved in merger plans could be forced to disclose more information to workers’ representatives, the European Commission has proposed.

It has called for new legislation giving stronger rights to works councils to be consulted on “any significant decision at European level that could affect their employment or working conditions.”
