IAEA censures Iran in step towards sanctions

The United Nations nuclear watchdog voted to censure Iran over its nuclear programme in a move that could pave the way for UN sanctions against Tehran in the new year.

The US hailed the vote at the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna on Friday as a sign of unity following revelations about a secret Iranian enrichment plant and Tehran’s subsequent decision not to sign up to a compromise deal on enriched uranium.
