Shanghai bucked the broadly weaker trend in Asian stock markets yesterday, helped by the return of funds previously frozen for the initial public offering of Metallurgical Corp of China.

The Composite index climbed 1.2 per cent to a one-month high at 3,176.7, as turnover improved to Rmb157bn from Rmb138bn on Friday.
