Calculating the supply chain’s carbon footprint and monitoring the effect of actions to reduce it is still evolving. There are a number of standards and software approaches.
“Carbon calculations are still almost at the back of an envelope stage,” says Martin Christopher, chairman of the Cranfield Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management. “There is not yet even total universal agreement on the carbon impact of different modes of transport.”
