Air of crisis boosts Rudd ratings

Kevin Rudd has had the most successful opening year in office of any Australian prime minister in at least 23 years, according to an opinion poll on Monday that showed continued strong support for his ruling Labor party.

The survey by Newspoll, jointly owned by News Corporation and the UK’s WPP marketing group, said Mr Rudd had recorded eight of the top ten “satisfaction” scores since its publication first began in 1985.
