The offshore wind power industry could bring up to 76,000 new jobs to the UK, with up to 38,000 of them in the north-east, according to a report commissioned by the Department of Trade and Industry and Greenpeace.
The north-east, with its history of manufacturing, strong skills base and access to seaports, was ideally placed to reap the benefits of increased investment in wind power.
