Russian stance ends UN talks on Kosovo

Western states on Wednesday said that Russian opposition meant the United Nations Security Council's role in determining the future status of the Serbian province of Kosovo had reached the end of the road.

The 15-member council met in closed session to discuss the failure of negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo to resolve a deadlock over Kosovan demands for independence.
