Attitudes to short-selling around the world

The main world markets that see significant short-selling all have rules relating to it, but few ban the practice during a company's rights issue, writesDeborah Brewster.

In the US, shares in a company's initial public offering cannot be sold short for a month after the IPO. However, many other countries do not have this restriction.
