For asset managers, the numbers to take your breath away include the rate of growth of assets in the fund management industry: 282 per cent in 2007 to Rmb3,200bn (£231bn, €292bn, $456bn). Half of this growth is due to new investment in funds, and half to the spectacular growth of the stock market.
