A Silver Jubilee is usually a time for celebration. For a campaigning organisation such as Business in the Community (BITC), whose remit is to drive corporate responsibility in the UK, it is also an appropriate occasion to examine successes, failures and challenges.
The climate in which business operates is very different from that of 25 years ago, when a small group of companies set out to help regenerate communities hit by unemployment and neglect that had exploded in inner-city riots in 1981.
