Stagecoach shares tumble after warning

Shares in Stagecoach fell sharply on Wednesday as the rail and bus operator guided down on profits for the coming year amid fears that falling employment in London will hit its revenues.

Brian Souter, founder and chief executive of the Perth-based company, forecast that Stagecoach’s bus businesses in the UK and US – which account for 61 per cent of group profits – would prove largely immune to recession.
