UK box office registers record high

The voracious appetite for cinema in Britain and Ireland pushed box office sales to record highs of £950m ($1.32bn) last year, according to a report by the UK Film Council.

But while cinema-going remains a favourite British activity, investment in film production in Britain has fallen sharply and cinema will find it hard to raise finance this year, the government-backed agency said.
