Bush lobbys Congress on farm reform

President George W. Bush called on Congress to support efforts to reach a new world trade deal by reforming US farm policy and extending his fast-track trade negotiating authority.

On Wednesday the administration proposed a shift in agricultural spending towards income support that would benefit less wealthy farmers and away from crop subsidies that distort prices and trade flows.
