Bill Gates elected to Berkshire Hathaway board

Bill Gates, co-founder and chairman of Microsoft, was on Tuesday night elected to be a director at Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate run by billionaire investor Warren Buffett.

Mr Gates, chief executive of the software giant until January 2000, is a friend and bridge partner of Mr Buffett and long-time Berkshire shareholder.
