Split into 12 very different parishes, Jersey offers a little bit of good old Blighty with a French twist. Residentially, the island is essentially split into two, with the capital, St Helier, accounting for about a third of the island's latest official population of just over 88,200. Filled with bedsits, terraced housing and newly-built apartments, the town is a favourite for younger people leaving home, single people sharing accommodation together and couples.
