M&S halts decline in food sales

Marks and Spencer reported improving conditions on the high street as Sir Stuart Rose, executive chairman of the retail bellwether, insisted he would not outstay his welcome when a new chief executive was appointed next year.

M&S said it was sticking to its plans to recruit a new chief executive before a chairman, in spite of the recent furore over ITV’s succession process.
