Nokia and Qualcomm to develop new 3G handsets

Nokia, the leading mobile phone maker, and Qualcomm, the US mobile phone chipmaker, signed a deal on Tuesday to develop a new range of advanced 3G handsets to launch next year in the North American market.

The move highlights the improving relationship between the former courtroom rivals after years of bitter disputes over intellectual-property rights and royalty payments and could have significant benefits for both companies.
