Telefónica’s Alierta cleared of insider trading

César Alierta, the chairman of Telefónica of Spain, was on Friday cleared of accusations of insider trading after a court ruled that too much time had elapsed between the alleged offence and the start of judicial proceedings.

The Provincial Court of Madrid also absolved Luis Placer, Mr Alierta’s nephew, of all charges.
