Democratic fundraiser accused of defrauding banks

A prominent Democratic fundraiser charged over alleged involvement in a scheme to defraud Citibank of millions of dollars was on Monday accused by prosecutors of using the proceeds to make numerous donations to election campaigns.

Hassan Nemazee, who served on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign and raised funds for Barack Obama’s run for the White House, was on Monday also accused of defrauding Bank of America and HSBC.
