Fidelity cuts jobs as funds contract

Up to 200 UK jobs are to go at Fidelity International as the fund manager renews efforts to reduce costs and contain the damage to profits from falling assets under management.

Like most asset managers, it is braced for accelerated withdrawals and steep falls in funds under management as the recent turmoil in equity markets takes its toll on investor confidence.
