Domino’s Pizza defied the gloom on the high street, delivering improved comparable sales and promising to beat profit expectations, as its takeaways proved increasingly popular with stay-at-home Britons.
Domino’s said its formula was “right for these times”. Chris Moore, chief executive, said: “We are fortunate in that the business is one which does thrive when people are at home.” He said the business was also attracting new customers who were trading down from eating out and who had a higher average ticket spend.
