Number of vacant shops falls in London

The number of vacant shops in central London has fallen since last summer, despite the downturn in the retail trade that has hit high streets across the rest of the country.

While the level of vacancies across the UK is spiralling higher as more retailers go bust, London is showing surprising resilience owing to overseas visitors exploiting the weakness of the pound.
