Franca Vossen: Translate old skills to new role

Within minutes of meeting Franca Vossen at her office in Amsterdam, the chief risk officer of Fortis Investments has switched from Dutch to English to Russian and back again, leaving a further three languages in her arsenal unused.

Having studied Russian and German from undergraduate to masters level at Leiden University in the Netherlands – with a concurrent bachelor’s degree in child psychology from St Petersburg – Ms Vossen turned to an MBA programme eight years into her career.
