British manufacturing is showing long-awaited signs that the weaker pound is helping to boost orders, after the badly affected sector saw the effects of recession ease in March.

The manufacturing purchasing managers’ index rose in March to its highest since last October, data published on Wednesday showed. It has now risen for three of the last four months.
