GM and Ford prices sink on 'junk' status

Corporate bond markets shivered on Thursday after General Motors and Ford Motor were relegated to "junk" status by Standard & Poor's, the credit rating agency.

S&P downgraded GM and GMAC, its financing arm, by two notches to BB and cut Ford and Ford Credit one notch to BB+. The agency kept the outlook as "negative" for all entities, meaning further downgrades are likely.
