The opening of the new Cartier exhibition, Cartier, Innova- tion through the 20th Century, at the Kremlin Museum in Moscow on May 25 marked a clear signal that the jewellery house is taking the Russian market very seriously.
It was, for instance, no coincidence that the sit-down dinner for 400 guests for the event that took an historical look at the house’s jewellery design from the early 1900s to the mid 1970s, held at the famous Villa Kocygina, included Mikhael Kusneroich, the owner of the GUM department store. For the GUM is where, on October 25, Cartier will open its next Moscow boutique complete with a shop front that will open on to the Red Square.
