Pipex yesterday admitted that subscriber numbers for its broadband service for the past three months had been flat after it acquired fewer customers than expected in a deal last year.

The group said broadband customer numbers were unchanged at 570,000 after acquiring the residential and small business broadband customer base of Bulldog from Cable and Wireless in September.
