Tullett and GFI held merger talks

Tullett Prebon, the UK-based interdealer broker, and its rival GFI have held talks about combining the two companies, according to spokesmen.

While Tullet and GFI disagree about the exact nature of the talks and about which side initiated them, both agree that they held talks in part because of shareholder feedback that the brokers would be better off as one unit.
