Kazakh copper producer latest to cut back

Kazakhmys became the latest mining company to say it was shutting down high-cost operations and reviewing expansion plans in reaction to the recent plunge in metals prices.

The Kazakh copper producer said on Thursday that demand from customers had “remained firm throughout the year in spite of financial market turbulence” and that it was positive about the long-term outlook for copper.
