Triumph for Serbia’s pro-EU president

The arrest of Radovan Karadzic confirms that the political scales in Serbia have tipped decisively in favour of the European Union.

Brussels has long demanded Belgrade’s full co-operation with the United Nations tribunal for the former Yugoslavia – meaning the arrest and extradition of remaining Serb war crimes suspects – as a condition for Serbia to start EU accession talks.
