Northrop Grumman raises profit forecasts

Northrop Grumman, the US defence contractor best known for its nuclear submarines, increased its full-year profit forecasts even as it said that higher pensions contributions had hit third-quarter earnings.

The third-biggest defence company in the US by revenues said its net income fell 4 per cent to $490m in the three months to the end of September on sales up 4 per cent to $8.73bn.
