Property sector drags the Nikkei lower

Asia-Pacific equities were mixed on Wednesday with Japan weighed down by property stocks and a higher yen, while elsewhere investors applauded the earnings of companies including China Mobile, China Cosco and Woodside Petroleum.

Pakistan suffered a sixth consecutive decline as investors steered clear from the market amid political uncertainty surrounding the split of the ruling coalition. The presidential campaign to elect a replacement for Pervez Musharraf also officially began on Tuesday.
