China hits fresh 13-month high

Chinese stocks rose to a new 13-month closing high as investors gained confidence in the recovery of the world’s third-largest economy.

The Shanghai Composite index rose 1.7 per cent to 3,060.25. Energy and metal shares were the biggest gainers after state-run Xinhua News Agency said power demand in Guangdong, the nation’s manufacturing hub, rose in June.
