National Grid sues cartel for £200m

National Grid, the energy company, is suing leading European power equipment makers for more than £200m ($296m) in the biggest cartel damages action to surface in the English courts.

The company has launched the claim against five continental European energy companies, including Germany’s Siemens and ABB of Switzerland, over a conspiracy to carve up the market for the gas-insulated switchgear used to isolate components in electricity networks.
